Actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde has opened up about her changing opinion of Elon Musk, saying she now “deeply resents” the billionaire and never imagined he would become the person he is today.Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the Don’t Worry Darling director reflected on meeting Musk years ago during a visit to SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles.
‘I really deeply resent him’
Wilde revealed that she visited SpaceX when the company had recently established its headquarters. At the time, Musk had shown interest in supporting a charity she was involved with in Haiti, which focused on building hospitals and schools.“I really resent him now. I really deeply resent him,” Wilde said.Recalling the meeting, she added, “I met him many, many years ago. I think SpaceX had just built their headquarters in L.A. and I got to go on a tour because I wanted to see the rocket ships.”She said Musk had expressed interest in donating to the organisation.“He was interested in donating money to an organization that I was a part of in Haiti that was building hospitals and schools. I believe he did donate a little bit of money, and that’s appreciated.”
‘He did seem really smart’
Wilde admitted that while she found Musk intelligent during their interaction, she never expected his public persona to evolve the way it has.“I was confused by him. I would never have predicted he would go down the path he has gone down. He did seem really smart,” she said.Summing up how she now views the billionaire, Wilde added that she had met him long “before he turned into a creature.”Her remarks come amid Musk’s continued prominence in global politics, business and social media, where his statements and actions frequently generate widespread debate.
